In college down in Jacksonville, FL, I met what would eventually become my touring band about 10 years later. Branford Marsalis started a label in 2002 called Marsalis Music, and when he signed me, he didn't tell me who to get on my record. So I chose the musicians I had been playing with for a long time. We had great communication and vibe, and Branford liked them immediately in the studio. We recorded the first 7 tracks in 1999 as a demo, and the live tracks were from our touring days. It was a fun band to have.
